Baby Thermometers
Baby Thermometers is dedicated to providing quality information on the subject of choosing the best baby thermometer for you and your family.
Without a doubt, having a thermometer in the house can be very handy. This is especially true if you have little ones in the house. Unfortunately, asking a baby, a toddler or school aged kid to sit or lie still while you take his or her temperature using a conventional thermometer can turn into a rather exasperating battle of wills.
It is a rather good thing that there are now manufacturers who are producing a wide variety of baby thermometer products. So if you want to buy something of this kind, here are some essential things you ought to know.
1. Mercury and babies do not mix. Although very useful in situations like these, mercury is also considered toxic and can be the source of lethal poisoning. At the same time, the glass vials used in almost all mercury thermometers can break and cause further damage. Needless to say, it would be best to keep mercury thermometers out of your home while you have very young children about.
There are also thermometers that use alcohol instead of mercury, but these too come in glass containers. Your best bet for a baby thermometer would be a digital one that measures temperatures using a lightly constructed mechanism, and can read out an output very quickly. The best thing about digital thermometers is that your kid does not even have to stay immobile for a long time while you take his or her temperature.
2. For very young children, it would be quite convenient to get a pacifier type baby thermometer. You could basically just let the child put this in his or her mouth and you will have a temperature reading in less than 2 minutes. These are also very fairly easy to clean since many are dishwasher safe. However, it might be best to choose a model that can be immersed in hot water (or at least parts of it) so that you know for certain that the pacifier is clean every time your baby needs to use it.
3. Ear and temple thermometers are great options for toddlers or older kids. These are non-invasive and also have digital outputs. Unlike the pacifier type though, you would need to ask your little one to sit still long enough to get an accurate reading. However, you do not need to clean or wash this type of thermometer, and that this can be used on adults as well.

I really like the idea of the thermometer that works like a pacifier. Sounds so much easier to use than the rectal thermometer.
I use the pacifier thermometer and for me it is the best way to test your babies temperature. I have tried all sorts but this definately hits top of the list.
Having struggled with a normal thermometer for years I would have loved to have used one of these although I suppose it may have been an issue with my daughter as she wouldn’t use a pacifier and instead choose to suck her fingers.
I’m really surprised you haven’t mentioned temporal thermometers in this post. I bought one years ago and it makes it so easy to check not only my child’s temperature but also mine.

Hello, whenever I try to browse pages I only end up viewing a small part of the page. I don’t understand if it is caused by my browser(Opera) or not, anyone else annoyed by this issue?
The pacifier thermometer was great for my kids too. Alot easier to check their temperature with this
My wife uses the pacifier thermometer, and she says it is the easiest one to use for the younger children.
